Antonio Pierce is pleased that the Raiders are the last club to defeat the Chiefs because he despises them.
The 45-year-old Pierce boasted that the Chiefs haven’t dropped a game since they beat them on Christmas Day during a recent interview on his teammate Maxx Crosby’s podcast. While some clubs like winning Super Bowls, others are content to defeat the champion in a pointless regular-season match.
Well, it wasn’t entirely pointless. Indeed, following the defeat at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shed a few tears while watching from the sidelines.
After collecting his third Super Bowl ring in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders’ home field, Mahomes, 28, was able to bring that experience full circle.
Can Antonio Pierce succeed once more?
Pierce was just coaching to keep his job because, after beating the Chiefs on Christmas, the Raiders were declared out of the playoff race.
When the Raiders defeated Kansas City, he was still serving as their temporary head coach. Can Pierce do it again? is the question at hand.
Although his players admire Pierce as a coach, the ownership is more concerned with winning. Right now, he’s exerting every effort to select a quarterback that he knows a great deal about.
