The 2024 National Curling Championships will be held in Barrie.

Curling Canada announced today that the 2024 Everest Funeral Concierge Canadian Curling Club Championships would be held at the Barrie Curling Club.

From November 17 to November 23, 2024, the Barrie community will roll out the red carpet for the best club-level curlers in Canada. Teams from both men’s and women’s divisions from each of the member organizations of Curling Canada—ten provinces, three territories, and northern Ontario—come together for a competitive week of grassroots curling that showcases the finest abilities and characteristics that characterize curling in Canada.

“On any given night, you can enter any curling facility in the nation and observe a vast array of exceptionally skilled players playing on the ice. Curling Canada’s interim CEO, Danny Lamoureux, stated that this is what makes the sport so unique in Canada and the reason the Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships are significant to commemorate and highlight. “We are grateful to Everest for giving regular curlers the chance to win Canadian titles; the level of ability, friendship, and competition at this event is unmatched.”

For recreational, club-level curlers who lack the time or means to compete at the high-performance level, there are the Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships. This event offers these curlers the thrilling chance to represent their home province or territory and contend for a Canadian championship.

According to Everest CEO Mark Duffey, “Everest Funeral Concierge has been helping curlers for nearly ten years, and we’re so happy to join Curling Canada as the title sponsor of the Canadian Curling Club Championships for the third straight year.” “With this competition, we can honor the grassroots curlers who dedicate their time and energy to competing at the national level and the lasting legacy they leave behind.”

“The Everest Curling executive committee (consisting of himself, Jennifer Jones, and Cheryl Bernard) is excited to support and promote our sport at the 2024 Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships in Barrie,” said renowned Canadian curler and recent inductee into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame Randy Ferbey. We’ll cross paths on the sheet.

In Barrie, curling enthusiasts from Ontario should have something to rejoice about. The men’s teams from Ontario have won the tournament four times overall. The most recent winner of the competition was Team Greg Balsdon in Edmonton last year. He becomes the latest in a line of former Ontario alumni champions, which also includes Team Paul Moffatt in 2019, Team Wes Forget in 2016, and Team Robert Stafford at the inaugural event in 2009.

The Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships will return to Ontario in 2019, and we couldn’t be happier about it. The CurlON executive director, Matt Allen, stated, “The tournament has a historic history related to Ontario—as both a host and a competitor—and the committee in Barrie is sure to put on a wonderful show in what will be a big triumph for many of the curlers competing next year.”

With three titles, Ontario has the second-highest number of women’s titles. Three Ontario-based teams have won championship banners: Team Kerry Lackie (2014), Team Kelly Cochrane (2009), and Team Caroline Deans (2012). Manitoba has won the most championships overall for women.

Doug Downey, the MPP for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte, stated, “Curling is a particularly Canadian sport, and we are very blessed to have an excellent grassroots curling club right here in Barrie.” “Organizing competitions such as the Everest Canadian Club Championships encourages curling among all age groups and showcases the greatest players in the sport. I’m excited to see how this championship will affect Simcoe County as a whole, not just the Barrie Curling Club. These kinds of top-notch athletic events have a ripple effect on the community.

“We are thrilled to have everyone in Barrie for the Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships in November of next year. The executive director of Tourism Barrie, Kathleen Trainor, expressed her excitement at the organization’s partnership with the Barrie Curling Club in bringing this event to Barrie. “Curling is one of the winter sports activities available in Barrie.”

Barrie will experience another first as the city hosts its first-ever Canadian curling competition in 2024—the Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships.

“We are thrilled to be the host of the 2024 Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships since it allows us to show off our facilities and kind hospitality to the competitors and spectators. Tony Marquis, leader of the host committee, said, “We have an amazing group of dedicated volunteers who are ready to make this an event that will be remembered for years to come.

The Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships in 2024 are a privilege to be hosted by us. According to Kyle Kitchen, president of the Barrie Curling Club, “this event promises to be a landmark occasion, not only for our club but for the City of Barrie.” It will be thrilling to witness as 28 elite club teams from all of our provinces and territories compete. Our outstanding members are prepared to extend hospitality and welcome the remainder of Canada to our club.

The Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships will be held inside the borders of member association CurlON for the sixth time in 2024. There have been championships in Toronto (2009), Ottawa (2015), Kingston (2017), and Ottawa (2021) in the past.
