A one-year contract with the Chargers.
When J.K. Dobbins makes his reappearance in Los Angeles, a lot of well-known people will be there. NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that Dobbins is signing a one-year deal with the Chargers, citing the running back’s agent as confirmation.
Dobbins will reunite with former offensive coordinator Greg Roman of the Baltimore Ravens and his former running partner Gus Edwards, who signed a free-agent contract earlier this summer with the Bolts, after recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in Week 1 of 2023.
In 2020, Dobbins’ rookie season and the year he peaked, he tallied 805 yards and nine touchdowns in his first three years with Roman. This tenure also includes the 2021 season, when Dobbins’ ACL tear kept him out of action the entire time.
Dobbins has only participated in 24 games over the course of four years, but his career yards per carry of 5.8 indicates that he has shown flashes of brilliance when healthy.
Dobbins, who is still only twenty-five, will make his most recent comeback in Los Angeles, which is beginning to take on characteristics similar to the west coast of the Ravens since Jim Harbaugh became head coach and added both Roman and Baltimore’s top two backs in recent seasons.
Pelissero further disclosed on March 26 that Dobbins, who comes in at number 80 in Gregg Rosenthal’s ranking of the top 101 free agents, has been given the go-ahead by Dr. Neal Attrache to start playing football again.
If he stays healthy, Dobbins might eventually reach his full potential with the Chargers and under a different Harbaugh. Maybe this Los Angeles tale will make a resurgence.
