Following a promising 2022 season where they clinched a playoff berth, the New York Giants endured a disappointing 2023 campaign, marking their sixth instance of securing six wins or fewer in the past seven years.
Despite their on-field struggles, the Giants received commendation from NFL players, who ranked them as one of the top-performing organizations in the league, as revealed in a recent survey conducted by the NFL Players Association.
Among the 32 teams, the Giants secured the eighth position overall, based on evaluations spanning various categories such as player treatment, family accommodations, cafeteria provisions, and assessments of the coaching staff, notably head coach Brian Daboll, who earned an A.
The Giants showcased particular excellence in two key areas: their training staff, which garnered a remarkable second-place ranking, and team travel arrangements, which earned the third-highest rating league-wide.
The report highlighted the exceptional work of the team’s longstanding head trainer, Ronnie Barnes, with an impressive 96% of players acknowledging the adequacy of one-on-one treatment time, placing the Giants atop the NFL in this regard.
However, amidst these accolades, players emphasized an area demanding improvement—the playing surface at MetLife Stadium. A vast majority of Giants players expressed dissatisfaction with the synthetic turf, mirroring the league-wide sentiment of 92%. Concerns were voiced regarding the perceived heightened risk of injuries associated with the current playing surface, underscoring the urgency for enhancements in this critical aspect of the game environment.
