NEWS FLASH: Novak Djokovic announced his resignation because to…
In an intense altercation captured on camera, tennis player Novak Djokovic cursed at a spectator from the court as he lost a match in Monte Carlo this past weekend.
The top-ranked Serb, who was behind 3–4 against Norwegian player Casper Ruud, erupted as his opponent’s forehand went out of bounds. Djokovic turned and yelled, “Would you shut the f–k up!” at a fan seated in the stands as soon as the point was announced.
His outburst was audible enough for the court microphones to pick up, forcing commentators to retract their coarse remarks. Though he sided with Djokovic, chair official Mohamed Lahyani reminded supporters not to make phone calls during the event, according to Express UK.
Djokovic’s situation did not improve following his outburst. The longest-reigning men’s tennis champion had an exceptionally terrible season, which came to an end in the Monte Carlo Masters semifinal round when he was defeated 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 by the tenth-ranked Ruud. He parted ways with his longtime mentor Goran Ivanisevic earlier this year, and after competing in four 2024 championships, he has yet to take home a championship.
On the court, he is likewise accustomed to spectacular eruptions. Last year, in a fit of rage following his heartbreaking Wimbledon shock loss to a juvenile Carlos Alcaraz, Djokovic broke his racket on a net post. The outcome of that outburst was a $8k fine.
