Following a hit on Michael Pittman Jr. of the Colts, the Atlanta Falcons were disqualified.
Due to the Atlanta Falcons’ illegal hit on Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on Saturday, the NFL declared that the team would be suspended for the remainder of the season.
Pittman dived for a deep ball in the second quarter of the game, but Kazee threw his shoulder into the wideout’s head, rendering him entirely helpless. Pittman was able to leave the field after the terrifying incident, but he was later declared out of the game with a concussion. For the hit, Kazee was disqualified, and this wasn’t the first time he had been kicked out. This season, he has received five fines for needless roughness.
According to the NFL’s announcement, Kazee was banned without pay for “multiple infractions of playing rules meant to protect the health and safety of players.” Should Pittsburgh get a postseason berth, the defensive back for the Steelers will be declared ineligible for the upcoming postseason.
NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan wrote to Kazee, saying, “When players violate the rules intended to protect player safety on a regular basis, and particularly when the violations carry with them a significant risk of injury to an opposing player, it is appropriate to impose substantially greater penalties.”
In his nine starts out of his 14 games this season, the 30-year-old defensive back has racked up 61 tackles. During his seventh NFL season after leaving San Diego State, Kazee has also registered two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
