Billy Napier, head coach of the Florida Gators, just announced his departure due to…
Florida is anticipated to make adjustments to its roster and coaching staff in anticipation of what is generally considered to be an extremely difficult 2024 schedule, following a dismal 5-7 performance in its second season under head coach Billy Napier, who dropped to 11-14 in his Gainesville tenure.
The Gators will be receiving a large infusion of true freshmen from the current No. 5-ranked 2024 high school class in addition to exploring their options through the NCAA transfer site, which produced several players for them in 2023.
Before the spring practice session began, the Gators were able to secure commitments from ten transfers from the previous winter portal cycle: Graham Mertz, a former Wisconsin quarterback; Caleb Banks, a former Louisville defensive lineman; CamRon Jackson, a former Memphis defensive lineman; Teradja Mitchell, a former Ohio State linebacker; Deuce Spurlock, a former Michigan linebacker; Micah Mazzccua, a former Baylor offensive lineman; Damieon George, a former Alabama offensive lineman; Cameron Carroll, a former Tulane running back; and Mannie Nunnery, a former Houston linebacker.
In the spring, the Gators added former East Los Angeles College edge Quincy Ivory, former FIU offensive lineman Lyndell Hudson, former Michigan safety RJ Moten, and former Coahoma Junior College running back Jakobi Jackson to their roster.
Florida’s roster will need to undergo some serious attrition in order to create space for such newcomers.
Players from Florida’s roster that sign up for the NCAA transfer portal will be monitored by Swamp247. The athletes mentioned below have either declared their desire to use the portal or made an appearance in the NCAA database for portal players. Please take note of this.
Should players choose to pursue a transfer, they can put their names into an online database called the NCAA transfer portal. When players want to have their name added to the portal, the compliance office of their present institution usually complies within 48 hours. Unless a player indicates that they do not want to be contacted, coaches can search the database and get in touch with any player who has registered. This usually indicates that the athlete already knows where they are going.
Players who were not on scholarships but entered the transfer portal from Florida’s roster will not be shown below.
