March 14 (UPI) –The Detroit Lions announced on Thursday that head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes had reached an agreement to extensions that would keep them employed through 2027.
Sheila Hamp, the owner of the Lions, stated in a news release, “We are happy to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons.”
“They have been the main reason for our football team’s reconstruction and the success we have had. Our football program’s continuity from them will be essential to our on-field success in the future.”
In 2021, 47-year-old Campbell became the Lions’ new coach. First season, he guided the team to a 3-13-1 record; in 2022, he led it to a 9-8 record. In 2023, Campbell guided the Lions to a 12-5 record, their first division championship since 1993.

The Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 in the wild-card round to win their first postseason match in thirty-two years.
After ranking third in the NFC, the Lions defeated the Tampa Bay Bucs in the divisional round and then fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the conference championship game.
About a week before to Campbell, 44-year-old Holmes signed with the Lions. The 2023 NFL Executive of the Year from the PFWA was once the St. Louis Rams’ director of scouting and head scout.
Additionally, the Lions consented to a multi-year deal with Chris Spielman, the president and CEO’s special assistant.
Lions president and CEO Rod Wood stated, “I could not be more proud of the job that Brad, Dan, and Chris have done for our organization.”
“They have devotedly collaborated to create a winning culture for the Lions. In order to bring about the long-term success we anticipate for the team, our supporters, and the city of Detroit, I am eager to keep working with them.”
The financial details of the extensions were not disclosed by the Lions.
