Brian Snitker, the manager of the Atlanta Braves, made sure his family avoided Philadelphia on opening day.
During spring training, Snitker blasted Phillies fans for what he perceived to be inappropriate actions during the playoffs directed at his wife and other friends and family in Atlanta.
In an interview that aired on March 21 with Atlanta radio station WZGC, Snitker stated, “It’s difficult there.” “To be honest, they don’t seem to mind either. Last year was really difficult for them all, to the point of concern.”
For the past two seasons, the Phillies have won the NL Division Series in Philadelphia, defeating the Braves each time. The Braves have won the 2021 World Series and six consecutive NL East championships.
Snitker has previously stated that his wife would not go back to Citizens Bank Park since Philly had “by far the most unfriendly audience.”
When asked what made his family feel uneasy at the ballpark on Friday, Snitker responded, “I won’t go into all of that. Let’s discuss today.
“In the dugout in Atlanta, my wife is watching the grandchildren, and they are in school,” Snitker remarked. “To be honest, they wouldn’t be anywhere but home.”
Snitker, meanwhile, commended the environment at Citizens Bank Park, which is known for being among the wildest baseball venues to play, in addition to commemorating its 20th anniversary this season.
Snitker remarked, “There’s a lot of electricity in the air, and rightfully so. This is a dedicated fan base.” “This club is excellent. These supporters take great pride in their work. Since there is a lot of energy, it’s a fantastic location to come and play.”
As he jogged to the third base line during lineup introductions prior to Atlanta’s 9-3 victory over the Phillies on opening day, Snitker laughed and dismissed the approximately 45,000 jeering fans.
Starter Spencer Strider of the Braves stated, “They don’t boo nobodies.” “I’ve been informed of that. I enjoy having fun here. It’s an enjoyable area to play in. On the other side of the field, there are ardent supporters and a strong squad. It usually results in an enjoyable game.”
