Courtney Morgan, GM of Alabama, just announced Kalen DeBoer is no longer…
Courtney Morgan has been appointed as Alabama’s new general manager. Morgan was one of head coach Kalen DeBoer’s first official staff additions. The two had previously worked together at Fresno State and Washington.
Morgan is crucial to DeBoer’s efforts to find and assess talent in both the high school and transfer portal categories; he has been referred to as a “pillar” of his goals in Tuscaloosa. In an interview with Andy Staples of On3, DeBoer elaborated on why his colleague is so crucial to the Crimson Tide’s mission.
DeBoer told Staples, “The biggest thing is that I worked with him; I worked with him at Fresno for a year.” And 2020 was arguably the worst year to be a coach—it was certainly one of the hardest years. However, he had a very inventive mind that always found a means to live without giving up.
“We clicked well together. We had a lot of time together over those months, so having the opportunity to bring him back to Washington was essential to our success there and to achieving the objectives we set for ourselves and our past two seasons there.
Morgan’s role will entail managing the day-to-day activities of Alabama’s recruiting and personnel departments. He is in charge of prospect communication, will oversee the attempt to analyze talent inside the transfer site, and will collaborate closely with DeBoer on film evaluation. Morgan will also be in charge of the Alabama football team’s internal brand management.
