Cowboys announce 2024 coaching staff, including Al Harris’ new title
Mike Zimmer took over as defensive coordinator for the Cowboys after Dan Quinn was let go in the offseason. Quinn brought along assistant defensive line coach Shariff Floyd and coordinator of the passing game Joe Whitt Jr.
Aden Durde, the defensive line coach, departed to take a position as defensive coordinator with the Seahawks.
On Tuesday, the Cowboys revealed their full coaching staff for 2024, reaffirming that Al Harris, the secondary coach, will become the assistant head coach.
Al has had such an impact on our players and coaching staff, according to a statement from coach Mike McCarthy. “I’m excited about his leadership in this new capacity. He is a fantastic mentor and motivator, and by moving up to this next level, our entire staff will gain from him. Al is a remarkable fit for this because of his commitment, ability to work with others, grasp of the game, and background in creating the special dynamics required to support a championship locker room.
Former NFL player Harris expressed excitement about continuing to develop as an NFL coach. He will play with the Cowboys for the upcoming sixth season.
Harris remarked, “I’m grateful to Coach McCarthy and the Cowboys for putting their trust in me to support the head coach as we pursue championships.” “I will commit my time, effort, and knowledge to helping our team succeed by offering my assistance in any manner I can. We have a strong and skilled group that is capable of accomplishing our goals. I am appreciative of the chance to carry on with our 2020 start.
