The excellent prospect from Bishop Moore Catholic was included in Florida State’s class of 2022. Before his second season in Tallahassee, he made the decision to transfer to Colorado the following spring.
For the Buffaloes’ 2024 campaign, Thomas’s position is “still being examined,” according to the Amazon Video documentary “Coach Prime.”
Thomas participated in two games for the Seminoles in 2022 and assisted on a tackle in their 44-14 victory over Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium.
The 6-foot-2, 295-pound tackle participated in nine games with the Buffaloes in 2023. He made six total tackles, two of which were for a loss.Thomas got three tackles and a tackle for loss in the Buffaloes’ victory over Arizona State, which was his best performance statistically. He also made appearances on offense in short-yardage scenarios as a fullback.
In terms of Florida State’s defensive tackle group, Braden Fiske, Malcolm Ray, and Dennis Briggs (pending a waiver) are among the key players who will be leaving this offseason.
With the present lineup of redshirt junior Darrell Jackson, redshirt junior Joshua Farmer, redshirt sophomore Daniel Lyons, redshirt freshman KJ Sampson, true freshman Jamorie Flagg, and true freshman D’Nas White, the defensive tackle group will have at least six scholarship players. Ray is openly looking into other possibilities in the portal, but Briggs’s situation is still unclear.
DJ Lundy, a former linebacker for FSU, recently moved to Colorado and is the newest member of the team to join Sanders in Boulder. Defensive end Derrick McLendon, safety Omarion Cooper, cornerback Travis Jay, and linebacker Brendan Gant were all former Seminoles who were traded to the Buffaloes.
