Rune, who is 20 years old, excels in almost all aspect of the game. He is a strong forehand and backhand player, has decent hands, is an aggressive returner, and is an excellent mover.
Maybe for that reason, Rune has now defeated Djokovic twice in less than six months, 6-2, 4-6,
Tuesday, 6-2, to advance to the semifinals of the Italian Open.
Rune’s quick court covering bothered 22-time major winner Djokovic, who he also defeated in the November Paris Masters final. On points that Djokovic believed he had already won, he forced his opponent to hit additional balls.
This week’s continuously wet circumstances at the Foro Italico, according to Djokovic, were difficult for him.
Djokovic remarked, “It’s really difficult to get the ball past him in these kind of conditions.” “He moves really, really quickly. There is much expectation. An extremely dynamic, gifted player with great all-around ability.
He was simply superior. He was too good for me for the whole of the game, Djokovic continued. “He remained composed and deserved to prevail.”
