Mike Vrabel On The Necessity Of The Final Game: “It Sucks To Lose”
Nashville, Tennessee When asked Tuesday why a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in the season finale would mean anything, Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel didn’t hold back. The team had just lost 26-3 to the Houston Texans and was in the midst of a three-game losing skid.
“Because losing stinks,” Vrabel remarked during the news conference on Tuesday. After pausing, Vrabel responded bluntly, expressing his dissatisfaction with the Titans’ 5-11 record and last-place finish in the AFC South.
“It’s awful; I hate losing. Horrible, Vrabel remarked. “I want to win because of this. due to your lack of sleep. That’s it: you want to win for the players that break their tail.”
The impact that NFL games have on the players, coaches, and support personnel of every club was brought to light by Vrabel’s answer.
It’s not as simple as saying, ‘Hey, let’s end the season on a positive note.’ When you return, no one will know what you did on January 7, 8, or 6,” Vrabel remarked. “However, you want to see everything come together and just connect the four halves. Win the game that we discussed.”
Fans may easily support a defeat because it would put the Titans in a better position to choose in the 2024 NFL Draft. Although Vrabel and the organisation would undoubtedly profit from a higher draft pick, he made it clear that his main goal is to defeat a Jaguars club that is still fighting for a postseason berth.
“You enter and say, ‘This is a tight game.'” Yes, our feelings are the same. And in that game the other day, we had to compete against each other in a back-and-forth format with field position, after which you have to score and take care of the ball’, Vrabel added.
“And in the possibilities we had, we just hadn’t done that. We’re like, “Okay, we had a fight, but we were still close.” However, I believe it to be the reason. You just place yourself in a position of competition and devise a plan to win the game in the second half by making a play. That’s what I’m hoping for.
Vrabel had anticipated a different season, one unlike this one. The three other AFC South teams are 9-7 and vying for postseason positions, while the Titans are 5-11. Three weeks ago, the Titans were eliminated.
With a victory over the Titans, Jacksonville, which possesses all the tiebreakers, can win the division. After noon CT, the game begins.
Vrabel remarked, “We’re all unhappy and frustrated with how things happened this year.” However, our only goal is to ensure that it’s as polished and professional as possible when we complete it. We put the players in the best possible position to go out there and win again, but there are still a lot of guys who are competing for personal glory, and I’m perfectly fine with that because we’ve always maintained that team success will follow when you have enough players who achieve personal success in the context of what we’re trying to accomplish as a unit. Thus, those things must coexist, and I would like them to for an additional week.”
