Johannesburg: Floyd Mbele has left his position as the Orlando Pirates’ administration manager, the team announced on Monday.
After becoming well-known at the South African Students Sports Union (SASSU), Mbele’s career took a significant turn when he joined the Sea Robbers.
He was instrumental in the Pirates’ 2010–11 season as they successfully pursued a treble.
2011 saw his resignation from the position, and he was hired by Royal Bafokeng Sports (RBS), the owners of the Platinum Stars Premiership team, to serve as managing director.
However, Mbele went back to
the Pirates in the past, taking on the same administrative function he did before his departure; yet, the seasoned administrator has resigned from his post effective immediately.
The announcement from the Bucs said, “Orlando Pirates have accepted the resignation of the club’s administrative manager, Mr. Floyd Mbele.” “Best wishes for success in his future endeavors from the club management.”
This Saturday, when the Pirates play TS Galaxy in the league, they will continue to play without Mbele. With 46 points, they are one point behind SuperSport United in third place on the log.
A victory will greatly inspire coach Jose Riveiro’s team ahead of their May 6 Nedbank Cup semi-final matchup at FNB Stadium vs. the Kaizer Chiefs.
