The 1992 Corvette that Jerome Brown, the top defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, was driving spun out of control on wet roads, hit a palm tree, and crashed yesterday afternoon in his hometown of Brooksville, Florida, killing both the 12-year-old nephew and the star defensive player.
Prior to the collision on Brooksville’s Hale Avenue, 27-year-old Brown was speeding, a witness who wished to remain anonymous claimed. The witness reported that although it had been raining earlier in the day, it was not raining at the time of the accident, which happened at around 4:45 PM. Brown spent the off-season living in Brooksville.
All-American at the University of Miami, he was selected by the Eagles with the first overall pick (number nine) in the 1987 National Football League draft.
