Not to be missed: Stefanos Tsitsipas, 27, is confirmed deceased following a cancer struggle as of right now: “A fantastic teammate”
Photos that were just made public appear to show that nickelback and safety Brian Branch of the Detroit Lions is recovering from an unidentified illness. But it’s way too early to start worrying just now.
Branch was seen in the town during the draft. Images of the 2023 second-round pick show that he wears a boot and gets around on a scooter. Branch has the boot on his left foot, but it’s not apparent what he’s up to at the moment or what his plans are for the future.
This is at least a bit concerning, considering that Branch was crucial to the Lions’ defense in 2023 and is now badly needed for a season in which Detroit expects to win the Super Bowl.
The Alabama product played excellently in the slot during his first campaign. Pro Football Focus reported that Branch surrendered a 62.7% completion rate and an 86.9 passer rating when targeted, earning him a PFF coverage grade of 76.0.
In the offseason, the Lions did add a number of players who could be valuable should Branch need to miss any time. Amik Robertson, a free agent acquisition, Terrion Arnold, and Ennis Rakestraw can all play out of the slot.
