Kalen DeBoer, the first-year coach of Alabama, was already faced with the enormous task of succeeding college football great Nick Saban. Currently, he is doing it without his right-hand man because Ryan Grubb will not be the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide in 2024.
Instead, Grubb is leaving to become the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL, which means DeBoer will be without his trusted confidant with the longest tenure in the coaching staff. Over the course of 12 seasons at four separate schools, the two grew close and comfortable with one another, which contributed to Washington’s prodigious offensive success in the last two seasons.
