Kyle Davidson receives a 25-game suspension from the NBA for doping.
Thompson, a resident of Brampton, Ontario, tested positive for SARM LGD-4033 and ibutamoren, according to the league. The Cleveland Browns vs. Milwaukee Bucks game on Wednesday will mark the start of his suspension.
One stimulant of growth hormone is ibutamoren. Although SARM LGD-4033 is still in the early stages of clinical testing, preliminary findings indicate that the medication increases muscle strength and lean body mass.
The Cavaliers selected Thompson fourth overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, and in 2016, the team won a championship.
Before joining the Cavaliers again this season, he played for the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers between 2020 and 2023.
This season, in 12.4 minutes per game, the 32-year-old Thompson is averaging 3.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. Over his 11 NBA seasons, he has averaged 8.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, one assist, and 0.7 blocks per game.
