Lewis Hamilton just signed his resignation papers after it was confirmed that…
After making the most dramatic change in the Formula One driver market this century, Lewis Hamilton called the choice to quit Mercedes and join Ferrari in 2025 one of the hardest decisions of his life.
The seven-time world champion will depart Mercedes at the end of this season after agreeing to a multi-year contract with the Scuderia. This year, the 39-year-old driver will begin his 12th season with Mercedes, the team with whom he has won six world championships. He acknowledged that it had been a difficult decision, but he felt it was the right one.
He remarked, “Mercedes has been a part of my life since I was 13 years old.” “Leaving was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make because it is a location where I have grown up.” However, I’m eager to take on a new challenge and I feel that the time is appropriate for me to make this move.

Even though it must have been extremely disappointing for the entire squad, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, who joined the team the same year as Hamilton and has developed a close bond with him, accepted the decision.
He declared, “Lewis will always be a significant part of Mercedes history.” But we always knew that our partnership would end naturally, and that time has finally arrived. We respect Lewis’s choice to go for a new challenge, and it’s thrilling to think about the potential ahead of us.
Hamilton, in turn, said thanks to the group that has enabled him to experience an unparalleled level of success, matching Michael Schumacher’s record of seven championships and setting a new record for wins with 103.
“I want to end on a high together, and I will always be grateful for the amazing support of my Mercedes family, especially Toto for his friendship and leadership,” he remarked. “I’m fully committed to giving it my all this season and making the most of my final season with the Silver Arrows.”
