One of the Western Bulldogs’ players has been suspended by head coach Luke Beveridge.
After a disappointing season, Beveridge had wanted Smith to stay on the coaching staff, but Chris Grant, the team’s football manager, believed that a change was necessary for 2024. The executive chairman, Bains, agreed. These well-connected club insiders stated that they were aware of the situation but asked to remain anonymous due to its sensitive nature.
A club insider, however, asserts that Beveridge has come to terms with the fact that Smith, a 300-game player in the 1990s and 2000s, will not receive a contract offer for the forthcoming season. Smith oversaw the team’s defensive strategy.
