One of the Giants’ top candidates for Offensive Rookie of the Year is Malik Nabers.
Despite a lot of rumors connecting the New York Giants to a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft, they ultimately chose a different path.
In the final hours before the draft, there were whispers that the Giants were trying very hard to move up in the first round. Malik Nabers, a wide receiver from LSU, was selected by the Giants at No. 6 overall instead of going higher or lower in the draft.
Nabers was actually ranked fourth when Pro Football Focus issued their list of the top candidates for the Rookie of the Year Award.
4. Maliki Nagers, WR for the New York Giants
Similar to Marvin Harrison Jr. in Arizona, Nabers will have an easier path to lead the Giants in targets after Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson tied for the team high with just 76 last season. Nabers was regarded by some as the best receiver in this class due to his 30 missed tackles caused after the catch, which placed fourth among wide receivers eligible for the draft.
Nabers joins a Giants offense that, with the departure of running back Saquon Barkley, is lacking in playmakers. He will definitely be the starting wide receiver and should be Daniel Jones’ primary target.
Odell Beckham Jr., an LSU receiver who went on to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, was already drafted by the Giants in 2014.
