According to rumors that circulated last week, the NCAA is thinking of instituting a third signing period in the summer and advancing the Early Signing Period until December.
NCAA football officials will get together in Indianapolis this week to talk more about the calendar adjustment, according to a report published on Wednesday by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
UPDATE: This week, NCAA football officials are gathering in Indianapolis to deliberate a calendar modification for Signing Day. They are suggesting the following three signing periods: The Wednesday after the regular season ends, the final Wednesday of June, and the first Wednesday of February.tweet.com/ckPHuh5bs1

The final Wednesday of June, the Wednesday after the regular season, and the first Wednesday of February would be the dates of the three signing periods under the proposal. There would be three or seven days during the June and December signing periods, while April 1 would be the end of the February signing period.
General manager of Ohio State Mark Pantoni has always supported the concept of a summer signing period and shared his thoughts on social media. Pantoni, though, isn’t overly fond of the idea of a signing period taking place the week before conference finals.

In February of 2023, Pantoni openly proposed a summer signing period, claiming that it would facilitate communication between coaches and athletes.
Last year, Pantoni told reporters, “I’ve talked to my colleagues about something that could be like a July 1 signing day.” “It seems reasonable to me that there will be numerous official visits in June. If they’re prepared to make judgments at that time, why can’t they sign right away?” That at least eliminates another possible set of men.
OSU WILL HOST JAHKEEM STEWART AND DORIAN BREW IN THE SPRING
Ohio State will host two key targets in different recruiting classes on visits in the spring.
Dorian Brew, a five-star 2025 cornerback, told 247Sports he plans to visit Columbus again in the spring after going a few times for gameday visits this autumn. Brew recently traveled to LSU, Texas, and USC. In the upcoming six weeks, he also plans to visit Oregon.
Brew stated to 247Sports of Ohio State, “Ohio State, coach Tim Walton and the guys he coached.” “He’s experienced; he coached wide receivers in the NFL. He was also an Ohio State player.”
Jahkeem Stewart, a five-star defensive tackle in 2026, also intends to visit five springs. Stewart, who according to 247Sports’ composite rankings is rated as the top recruit overall in the 2026 class, will attend the Buckeyes’ spring game on April 13 at OSU. In addition, he plans to visit Oregon, USC, Auburn, Texas A&M, and UCLA.
OHIO STATE IS PRESENT AT THE DAKORIEN MOORE
Even though Texas recruit Dakorien Moore, a five-star wide receiver in 2025, is committed to LSU, Ohio State and Brian Hartline are still interested in him.
Moore claims that Texas, Oregon, and the Buckeyes are still pursuing him in his recruitment, according to 247Sports.
Moore stated to 247Sports, “Ohio State is back in the mix.” “They’re beginning to communicate with me more. In 2024, Coach Brian Hartline was concentrating on his class, but he’s starting to pick up speed.”
It would undoubtedly be worthwhile to keep an eye on Moore if he decides to attend Ohio State.
TREY MCNUTT WILL HAVE HIS ACCESS TO A 7-ON-7 COMPETITION SUSPENDED FOR ONE GAME.
Priority four stars Trey McNutt, a 2025 safety prospect for Ohio State, will miss one game due to his participation in a seven-on-seven competition, according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association. No, there isn’t a typo there.
Football players are not allowed to participate on non-school teams between August 1 and May 14 according to OHSAA regulations. In January, McNutt competed for the Fast Houston seven-on-seven squad at the Battle of Miami. This weekend, he will play in another competition in Los Angeles.
Regarding the possibility of a one-game ban, McNutt told 247Sports, “I think that the rule is unacceptable.” It seems as though it is denying the children their fundamental rights as it gains control over them. How are you going to tell someone that they are unable to practice or play football at all while these other sports allow them to participate in AAU and other competitions but football is incapable of meeting the same standards?
“I oppose this regulation since, in general, it is incorrect and should be followed by future generations.”
Although no rule changes have been passed, Ohio high school coaches and athletes have long pushed for reforms that would allow for seven-on-seven competitions in the spring.
