The announcement of Mavericks owner Mark Cuban’s leaving came shortly after Carlisle made his own speech on ESPN.

Carlisle wrote, “After several face-to-face meetings with Mark Cuban over the past week, I informed him today that I will not be returning to my position as head coach of the Dallas Mavericks.” This was all my decision.

I’m excited for the next stage of my coaching career, but Dallas will always be home, he added.
