Coach Ryan Day of Ohio State receive message from NFL

ANN ARBOR, Mich. With a 30-24 loss to Michigan on Saturday, Ohio State’s season most certainly came to an abrupt end. The game had been building to a point that few fans of the rivalry had witnessed in recent memory.

The Buckeyes now have to deal with the reality that, in the greatest game in years, their season most certainly ended against their most loathed opponent.

“Difficult to explain,” Day stated. “I’m just upset that we didn’t win this game. We put in yearlong effort towards it. We simply failed to meet our expectations.

What will Ryan Day do if Bill O’Brien leaves Ohio State in less than a month?

When and how will Ryan Day finish off Ohio State’s defensive coaching staff? “I felt like at 52 yards, it was worth a field goal there; if you don’t get it on fourth-and-2, fourth-and-3, you get no points,” the player said in reference to the field goal attempt that ended the first half. At least the field goal opportunity was worthwhile. I thought that was a wise course of action.
“At that time, we had a chance to kick a 52-yarder,” he went on. Gaining three points at the half, especially after starting with the ball on the 2-yard line, was probably the proper move. You will feel amazing if you succeed. You do not if you do not. Undoubtedly, we will scrutinize every aspect while we are absent. However, you forfeit everything if you miss that fourth-and-2 or fourth-and-3 opportunity.
Regarding the contentious Denzel Burke play that resulted in a second-quarter touchdown for Michigan, “I was informed that it was ruled a touchdown on the field.” It was maintained as a result. I wasn’t entirely sure how that worked.
Regarding Michigan’s possession period: “They performed a commendable job of running the ball. There was too much time off the clock.
Regarding Kyle McCord’s performance at quarterback, he said, “You have to win the turnover fight and the rushing yards in this game.” Day made repeated mention of that at his press conference.
Regarding whether he thinks Ohio State should be given a chance to make the playoffs, he says, “I haven’t really given it any thought.” When you’re playing this game, everything is totally concentrated on it. I would have to consider that. I believe that our team is excellent. This team can compete with any team in the nation, in my opinion.
“It’s immediately after the game, so it’s hard to start thinking about all that,” the person said in reference to the previous two years and a third defeat.
