Ohio State receives word about NFL intentions from WR Emeka Egbuka.
The news that some Ohio State football players have chosen to return for one more season rather than sign with the NFL has created a good whirlwind around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center lately. Even if things have been going well, things have just gotten better as receiver Emeka Egbuka entered the game and said that he will play for the Scarlet and Gray one more year.
The potential first-round pick appeared to be considering a return, as there had been whispers and rumors. He confirmed those tidings on Thursday by making an announcement, joining the long list of OSU players who had considered joining the NFL but ultimately chose to remain on the Olentangy.
As far as players being able to depart early to join the NFL go, this is maybe the greatest story to date. Egbuka anticipated having a huge season and being a possible first-round pick going into the season. In addition to having to compete behind Biletnikoff champion Marvin Harrison Jr., he also had to contend with an ankle ailment that probably made his junior season less successful than he had hoped.
Despite the injuries and time lost, he ended the season with 41 catches for 515 yards (12.6 avg.) and four touchdowns.
