The Green Bay Packers have placed CB Eric Stokes on injured reserve, signed S. Benny Sapp III from the practice squad to the active roster, and elevated WR Bo Melton from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions on Saturday.
Sapp, who signed with Green Bay as an undrafted rookie free agent out of the University of Northern Iowa in May, has played in three games for the Packers this season, recording two tackles on special teams. He played in 24 games at the University of Minnesota (2018–19) before appearing in 30 games for Northern Iowa (2020–22). In three seasons at UNI, he recorded 138 tackles (83 solo), 1.5 tackles for a loss, nine INTs, 16 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. In 2022, he earned third-team FCS All-America honours from The Associated Press, second-team FCS All-America recognition from STATS Perform and the American Football Coaches Association, and first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honours from Phil Steele’s College Football and The Bluebloods.
