Kienholz, Pierre, plays a lot in Ohio State’s 14-3 Cotton Bowl defeat.
Lincoln Kienholz, a former star quarterback for Pierre, was given a lot of attention by the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night (Dec. 29, 2023) in the Cotton Bowl. The Missouri defence applied constant pressure to the Buckeyes, and the Tigers won 14-3. OSU starting quarterback Devin Brown was forced to leave the game due to an ankle injury after the Tigers sacked him three times. Though he played the most of the three quarters, Kienholz, who was anticipated to play some, struggled to find time to throw the football. When he had time to throw, he looked decent, completing six of his 17 attempts for 86 yards, but he was under pressure for the majority of the game. The Missouri blitz eventually got to Kienholz after he scored a touchdown for the second time in a row in the fourth quarter. They sack him and force a turnover to end the game. Ohio State finishes the year with an 11-2 record, and one of the key areas of emphasis for the upcoming campaign will surely be the quarterback position.
Texas’s Arlington (AP) Missouri’s first point of the fourth quarter came from All-America running back Cody Schrader, who ran for 128 yards and bullied his way into the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown. The ninth-ranked Tigers finished their 11-win season with a 14-3 victory over No. 7 Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. With 5:12 remaining in the game, Brady Cook found Luther Burden III on a 7-yard touchdown pass. Two-time All-America receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. chose not to play for Ohio State; the junior hasn’t yet said if he plans to declare for the NFL draft. The 11-2 Buckeyes managed just 203 total yards in the end.
Ohio State, rated seventh, takes on Missouri, ranked ninth, in the Cotton Bowl. Lincoln Kienholz, a former standout at Pierre Governor, may have a big role in the Buckeyes’ victory after Kyle McCord, their starting quarterback the whole season, recommitted to Syracuse through the NCAA transfer portal. Since Kienholz and junior Devin Brown are anticipated to compete for the starting position next season, McCord’s departure provides an opportunity for them to demonstrate their abilities.
Although Brown is expected to start in the Cotton Bowl, most Buckeye supporters anticipate seeing both quarterbacks play at some time. Throughout the season, Brown has passed for 197 yards and two touchdowns to support McCord, while Kienholz has only played in two games and has only completed four of five passes for 25 yards. As the all-time top quarterback in South Dakota history in terms of yards and touchdowns, Kienholz concluded his tenure as Pierre Governor last year.
