NFL Retirement Announced by Receiver and Three-Time Pro Bowler
Since DeSean Jackson hasn’t played in the NFL this season, it seemed obvious that his career was coming to an end. The wide receiver, a three-time Pro Bowler, has formally announced his retirement from the game.
The wide receiver has retired, according to a November 29 X post from Jackson and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jackson’s retirement from the squad has been confirmed by the Eagles.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie released a statement saying, “DeSean Jackson was a dynamic playmaker who enthralled Eagles fans with his game-breaking speed, unique skill set, and explosive play.” “Throughout his remarkable 15-year career, DeSean’s ability to make amazing performances appear ordinary was what really set him apart. It is a well-known event known as the “Miracle in the New Meadowlands” when he memorably veers into the end zone after winning the football in New York on that fateful evening in December 2010. DeSean’s return is greatly appreciated, and we eagerly anticipate commemorating his official retirement as an Eagle on Sunday, when he will captain the team honorably.
Jackson played with the Washington Commanders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens, in addition to the Eagles. It’s not surprising that he decided to retire from the team because he made the most impact during his eight seasons in Philadelphia. Jackson is thirty-six.
Record Holder and Retiree DeSean Jackson
One of the greatest deep-threat wide receivers of all time, DeSean Jackson, will always be recognized. With eight, he is tied for the NFL record for most yards in a single season. During the 2009 season, he also set a record for the highest average of 52.8 yards per score among players with at least 10 touchdowns in a season in NFL history.
Jackson’s 40-yard sprint time of 4.35 was a good fit for real games, and he maintained that pace throughout his career. 11,263 career receiving yards, 641 receptions, and 58 touchdowns are his final stats. In addition, he was awarded a Super Bowl ring for his 2021 campaign with the Rams.
Why DeSean Jackson Is Retiring from the Philadelphia Eagles
The only other clubs DeSean Jackson spent more than one season with were the Commanders (3) and Buccaneers (2). He played with the Eagles for the bulk of his career, and it was clear that he wished to leave the team in retirement.
He shared some information about how important Philadelphia is to him.
Jackson stated, “Philly will always be home,” in a piece for PhiladelphiaEagles.com. “I wanted to return and retire as an Eagle because of this.” It seems to fit me perfectly. It seems like I never should have gone. Every time I reflect on my professional life, I ask myself, “What would my career have looked like if I had stayed an Eagle all these years?” We had a terrific time in Philadelphia. It’s a historical account. Events take place. Things happen in the corporate world. We try not to dwell too much on the past; instead, we only discuss the wonderful moments. Simply relish life. All you have to do is do that.
“I’m eager about Sunday. The night before, I’m sure I’ll be dozing off like a baby and feeling like I’m actually in the game.
