An early team news update has been provided by Everton manager Sean Dyche ahead of his team’s Premier League matchup with Wolves this coming weekend.
On Saturday, December 30, Everton travels to Molineux with the intention of avenging their last three losses across all competitions.
During his pre-game press conference on Thursday, December 28, Dyche stated that Ashley Young is also out, and Idrissa Gueye is also out with a calf injury.
Due to a “knock” that prevented him and Dominic Calvert-Lewin from practicing on Thursday, December 28, James Tarkowski may also be viewed as doubtful.
Better news for Everton, though, as Abdoulaye Doucoure is said to be “touch and go” while recovering from a personal injury layoff.
Extra significance
Everton obviously feels more pressure to win this trip to the Wolves than they did a few weeks ago, when they appeared to be in a very stress-free situation.
Luton Town, who are currently in the final relegation spot, have had back-to-back victories and losses against Tottenham and Manchester City.
Everton is firmly back in a relegation battle as the Hatters are currently just one point behind the Toffees and still have a game remaining.
But under pressure, the players appear to perform at their best, and this matchup with the Wolves offers an opportunity to turn things around.
Tarkowski and Calvert-Lewin, even though the latter was benched for the Manchester City match, are two players Dyche will hopefully have available.
Although it appears that it will take some time for Gueye and Young to return, getting Doucoure back on the field is also crucial because he puts goals on the back burner.
There is no reason they cannot come back from Molineux with all three points this weekend if the players that are available perform with the same intensity as during their recent winning run.
