Perez’s former employer supports him in keeping his Red Bull job

There has been increased pressure on the Mexican driver to perform well and stay in the sport because his contract expires at the end of the current season.

Max Verstappen, a colleague, outperformed Perez despite the 34-year-old’s contribution to the team’s first-place finish in the world championship, ending with more than twice as many points as Perez.

Although other drivers, including Carlos Sainz and the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, have been linked to the defending champions, Perez is still a contender for the Red Bull driver’s seat for the 2018 season.

There is pressure on Sergio Perez to stay at Red Bull, as drivers like Carlos Sainz are linked to the seat.

Szafnauer, the former team principal of Alpine and Aston Martin, oversaw Perez’s first Formula One victory at the Sakhir GP in 2020 when he was employed at Racing Point.

The American told the press that he would rather see Perez take over as Red Bull’s coach the next season when he unveiled his new app, EventR.

“I was asked, ‘Who would you replace Checo with if you were Christian Horner?'” he said. when attending an F1 event in Abu Dhabi two days ago.

Given my thorough knowledge of Checo, I proclaimed, “I would replace Checo with Checo.” If I were Christian, I still would have kept him for the next year. Recall that Max won [the title] in the inaugural year [2021] as a result of a combination of circumstances and Checo.

But certain races did help Verstappen win, and that’s how Checo came to be known in Mexico as the ‘Minister of Defense.'” He acted in that manner. Yes, there have been bad periods for him, but overall this year, with the exception of a few races where I think he should have done better, I think he is thriving.
