The Packers general manager, Brian Gutekunst, said on Wednesday that Alexander is being penalized for actions that are harmful to the team.

In a statement, Gutekunst stated, “We never take lightly the decision to suspend a player. We regretfully have to take this action as a result of Jaire’s activities before the game in Carolina.

For the Packers’ trip to play the Panthers, Alexander was not selected as one of the three captains.Nevertheless, he led the captains out to midfield for the coin toss prior to kickoff. Alexander declared that he preferred Green Bay’s defense to be on the field rather than deferring after winning the coin toss. Alexander made a mistake that the referee fixed, potentially costing the Packers the kickoff to start the second half.

The sixth-year cornerback claimed he joined the captains since he is from Charlotte and thought the coaches had forgotten about that. He had missed the previous six games due to a shoulder issue.

We expect everyone in our organization to prioritize the team. Although we are saddened, Gutekunst continued, “We had a wonderful talk with Jaire this morning and fully expect him to learn from this as we move forward together.” He is a valued member of our team and will remain so in the future, so we are excited to have him back next week.

In a Week 17 meeting with the Minnesota Vikings and standout receiver Justin Jefferson, Alexander’s suspension might prove expensive. The Packers are still in the running for one of the three NFC playoff berths at 7–8
