The Sydney Roosters have extended Trent Robinson’s contract to the end of 2028, meaning he will spend at least 16 seasons in that role.
In his tenth season as coach, 44-year-old Robinson is already the longest-serving coach in club history.
In his first season, he guided the team to the NRL premiership in 2013. He went on to win back-to-back titles, making history as the first coach in the NRL era. He also enjoyed more success in 2018 and 2019.

What we discovered from the NRL tryouts 2yDominic Brock Nick Politis, chairman of the Roosters, stated that the team aimed to sign one of the “greatest minds” in the league.
Politis released a statement saying, “Trent is the best thinker in the game, in my opinion.”
“He is a man of great moral character who genuinely cares about his players, our club’s heritage, and the community we serve.
“Since Trent joined the Roosters as head coach in 2013, every player we have signed has improved both as a player and a person, and it’s great to know that Trent will lead the team for many years to come.”
Before joining the Roosters, Robinson coached the Catalans of the Super League for two seasons. He claimed that the Sydney team was his home.
“This club is without a doubt my home; it has played a major role in my professional life,” Robinson remarked.
“I’m from the Roosters, and I play a pretty clear leadership position here.
“I’m really delighted to be staying with the club for an extended period of time. Walking into our offices every day and observing the caliber of personnel and players we have here, we’re all committed to wanting to be the best athletic franchise in Australia.”
The only current NRL coach who has been in charge longer than Robinson is Craig Bellamy of Melbourne, who is in his 20th season as head coach and has a contract that runs until the end of 2026.
