    Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe discusses his relationship with Nick Sheridan and learning a new offense.

    TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — After throwing for 2,834 yards and 23 touchdowns this past season, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is still committed to improving. He has a new offensive coordinator, head coach, and scheme this year, but his drive to get better hasn’t altered.

    Although it showed itself last season, Milroe’s ambition to get better is still present as he and his teammates prepare for a new chapter in Crimson Tide football history. He’s not blind to the prospects of the situation.

    “This is a great event for me because of my football playing days,” Milroe remarked on Tuesday. “I really feel that Coach [offensive coordinator Nick] Sheridan has faith in me.” He says it about me every single day, expressing his pride and providing encouragement in addition to instructing. Sheridan’s trust in Milroe and creation of an environment that fosters growth have allowed him to make the moment unforgettable for him.

    As 2023 progressed, Milroe’s performance improved, culminating in a Rose Bowl trip in the College Football Playoff semifinals. He took the starting quarterback position after earning it and ran with it. After Nick Saban retired, he made it clear to a crowd of supporters that he would continue to play at the Capstone. He made this announcement the same day that new coach Kalen DeBoer was appointed.Austin Mack, a transfer from Washington, is a new face to Milroe and his teammates this spring. Dylan Lonergan chose to concentrate on football instead of baseball, and Ty Simpson stayed as well.

    There’s a new offense that comes with the program’s drastic adjustments, but he’s excited about the opportunity to keep learning. “I have to quit playing football the day I stop improving and learning,” Milroe declared. After spending three years becoming acclimated to one offense and then switching heading into his fourth year, he is sure that mastering the system would improve him. “It will force me to broaden my perspective on strategies, manoeuvres, and similar aspects.” Former Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who joined Milroe last winter as one of the four starting quarterbacks to compete in the Playoffs, saw his career completely changed by DeBoer’s offensive scheme.

    Two objectives Milroe mentioned for the next season were to strive for a continuous increase and to be one percent better every day. “The most important thing is to have complete faith in the process,” he stated. “Although the process can be difficult, exhausting, and tiresome at times, the most important thing is to maintain your composure and stick to your short- and long-term objectives.” As he did throughout last fall, he believes that his will to keep studying has improved him as a quarterback.
