The former NFL quarterback Tom Brady has been attempting to purchase a portion of the Las Vegas Raiders for some time.
Brady and the Raiders went back to the bargaining table after issues with the original contract to make the required changes to appease the NFL owners.
The update seemed to suggest that Brady’s acquisition was almost approved; nevertheless, the owners did not vote on his agreement to purchase that minority stake in the Raiders during the NFL’s annual league meeting. Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, stressed that there was no delay or issue with this.
Goodell informed the reporters that Brady’s contract with the Raiders is proceeding and that the NFL has a strict approval process for owners, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a delay,” Goodell said on Tuesday during the NFL’s annual league meeting held at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes. “We adhere to a very thorough process.
All we’re doing is going through the motions. We are in contact with them. It has, in my view, been getting better.
With Brady’s upcoming ownership deal with the Raiders, there were a few kinks to work out. There have allegedly been concerns raised by Brady’s dual role as a FOX NFL analyst and minority owner of the Raiders because of possible conflicts of interest.
Furthermore, he was associated with BetMGM. The gaming company has utilized Brady’s image and likeness in a number of its marketing initiatives; but, if Brady acquires ownership, that usage would end. He may retain up to 5% of the company, but the advertising must end.
Antonio Pierce claims that Aidan O’Connell has earned the opportunity to go up against the other quarterbacks in the Raiders system.
Tom Brady is the all-time quarterback, but the Raiders will not see him in white. The actual quarterback that will lead the team on the field the following season is unknown, despite head coach Antonio Pierce being positive that Aidan O’Connell will be in the mix.
Pierce claims that given O’Connell’s 5-5 record as a starter as a rookie with the Raiders the previous season, he has a legitimate shot at the starting job in the new campaign.
O’Connell will still need to be the Raiders starting quarterback even after the team adds veteran Gardner Minshew and is anticipated to pick a quarterback in the draft.
