Less than three years ago, when the Denver Broncos traded for Russell Wilson from his old home team, the Seattle Seahawks, after the 2021 season, Wilson inked a five-year, $242 million contract with the team. Wilson was still owed close to $40 million by the Broncos, but during this off-season they made the decision to split ways with the probable Hall of Famer.
Wilson signed a one-year veteran minimum contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers just a few days after being released. Denver will pay Wilson $39 million to stay out of the league in 2024, even though Wilson will supposedly start in “Steel City” after the team traded former first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles.
