Breaking: There is terrible injury news for the offensive lineman starting for the Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Lions defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 on Sunday in the Divisional Round.
This will be Detroit’s first NFC Championship competition since 1992. This time, they’ll go to San Francisco to play the 49ers on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Central Time.
However, there is some bad news for the Lions. They are likely to miss time due to an injury sustained against the Buccaneers to their starting left guard.
The Pro Bowl guard for the Detroit Lions is most likely not going to play in the NFC Championship Game.
Jonah Jackson had a knee injury in the first half of play during the Divisional Round after making a tweak to his knee run blocking technique. Jackson limped off the field and headed straight for the locker room.
After adjusting his knee run blocking method during the Divisional Round, Jonah Jackson sustained a knee injury during the first half of play. Jackson hobbled off the field and made his way directly to the changing area.
If Detroit defeats San Francisco, head coach Dan Campbell of the Lions thinks there’s a chance Jonah Jackson will play in the Super Bowl:
Jonah Jackson was only able to play in 12 games during the regular season due to a variety of injuries. Jackson sustained a high ankle injury in Week 5 that prevented him from playing in Weeks 6–8. He had a wrist injury in Week 10, which kept him out of action in Weeks 11 and 12.
The Pro Bowl offensive guard appeared in 798 snaps, had five penalties, and gave up two sacks with a 59.7 PFF grade.
Who will play in his place if he is unable to?
Kayode Awosika is anticipated to start now that Jackson is out. Awosika played 252 plays, started three games, was flagged for two penalties, surrendered one sack, and received a 59.8 PFF grade during the regular season.
Awosika replaced Jackson last week and permitted five pressures per PFF.
Are they able to disrupt San Francisco’s better defensive line?
Given Jonah Jackson’s injury, can the Detroit Lions be able to control the line of scrimmage and slow down the San Francisco 49ers’ strong defensive line?
