Breaking: Two Sentences in Connection to the Atlantic City Shooting
Two individuals, Tawanne Williams of Philadelphia and Jessica Bryant of Atlantic City, have been sentenced for their involvement in a shooting incident that occurred on August 31, 2022, in Atlantic City. Bryant received a five-year sentence, including an 85% period of parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act, followed by three years of parole supervision. The charges include second-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree pointing a firearm. Williams was sentenced to five years without parole eligibility for charges including second-degree certain persons not to possess a handgun and fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law.
The shooting was reported near the Carolina Villages apartment complex, where the Atlantic City Police responded immediately and found a male victim with injuries to his hand and hip. Later, surveillance footage revealed that Bryant was fleeing the area in a rental car, driven by Williams.
In early September 2022, Williams was stopped in the rental car in Atlantic City but was uncooperative with the police, leading to the discovery of a handgun under the driver’s seat which was later confirmed to have been used in the shooting incident. In addition, Bryant was apprehended several months later in Galloway Township.
The Atlantic City Police Department and its Violent Crimes Unit conducted the investigation with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department. Ultimately, the charges in this case were prosecuted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit.
In conclusion, Williams and Bryant have received significant jail time for their roles in the shooting incident, which caused injuries to a victim. The authorities involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case have worked hard to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that the communities are safe from violent crimes.
