Breaking: The current US Open champion’s team includes Coco Gauff because of…
With her recent ascent, Coco Gauff has become one of tennis’s biggest and most well-liked stars.
Gauff, a rising star who captured everyone’s attention with her incredible Wimbledon run in 2019, won her first Grand Slam championship at the US Open in 2023.
The world number three, who is still only twenty, has more than ten years left in what has already been a fruitful career to accomplish much more.
She has also built an amazing support system around herself as she strives to add additional well-known titles to her library.
As the American woman prepares to defend her US Open title in a few months, we take a look at the important figures and names to be aware of.
Brad Gilbert
A crossroads had come for Gauff last summer.
The American star’s dismal 2023 season came to an end with a first-round defeat at Wimbledon; it seemed as though he was experiencing the traditional “sophomore slump.”
The 19-year-old added renowned coach Brad Gilbert to her squad because she wouldn’t accept anything less than total success, and he has helped her reach new heights.
Before her incredible run to the title at Flushing Meadows, the hard court summer began with victories at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati and the WTA 500 event in Washington.
In addition, Gilbert has led Gauff to the Australian Open semifinals in 2024 and a seventh WTA victory in Auckland this year.
Gilbert has had a huge impact thanks to her improved forehand and increased capacity to grind out hard wins.
In October of last year, Gauff told reporters, “I feel like he understands the things to say in the tough periods of the match sometimes.”
“There are two distinct personas in us. Brad has a tendency to talk a lot. I consider myself to be more of a stubborn person. Being with him, I believe, has helped me be more receptive to advice—just the way he puts it motivates you to act on it.
