NEWS: Tyson Fury claims he has no ill will toward Anthony Joshua, but his main focus is…
The countdown to the rescheduled May 18 heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usyk has begun.
At a press conference on Wednesday at Mazuma Stadium in Morecambe, United Kingdom, Fury was joined by promoter Frank Warren. Five weeks before Fury fights Usyk, a separate media frenzy has started about a much-discussed fight with local rival and two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.
The two were scheduled to fight each other in 2022, but because to contractual issues, Fury ended a trilogy with Deontay Wilder while Joshua faced Usyk and lost. Since then, both sides have frequently exchanged harsh remarks.
Will the animosity persist until Fury and Joshua can reconcile at last?
“How about? being referred to as a sausage or a dosser? stated Fury. “What has actually been stated? Has he ever told me something intimate, or have I ever told him anything? Not in my opinion.
“I would take him out for fish and chips, or we would go over there for a beer and a jam sandwich if he was here right now. I would bring him back to my home so we could snap a photo and get to know my kids. What, do you suppose there is animosity between two fighters in the professional ranks? Act appropriately.
After the two champions, Joshua has subsequently bounced back to rank third among heavyweights after stopping Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia. Following Wilder’s collapse from the pack following a defeat to Joseph Parker, Joshua’s name is now associated with the Fury-Usyk winner. A future fight that would have taken place at Wembley Stadium has reportedly been discussed.
“When it occurs, it won’t be at Wembley Stadium,” Fury declared. “Are you going to do something in another country if you are paying $200 million for it? Question that. If there is a rematch, then perhaps in that one.
“From my perspective, Joshua is an experienced player who must bide his time since he had a decent shot against Usyk and lost. He has already suffered two losses to Usyk. He will therefore have to wait until I’ve finished dealing with your man, which places him at the back of the line.
“I cannot ignore Usyk. “Okay, then, I don’t want my 75 million that I’m earning in the rematch,” is not what Usyk is going to say. Just give me $50,000 so I can move away, please. Do you honestly believe that will occur? Not in my opinion.
