The players selected presents for children who were being treated at nearby hospitals.
Brandon Carlo is not yet a fully-fledged and professional toy shopper. He is still developing his skills.
Certainly, it wasn’t that long ago that he was wandering the aisles in quest of the ideal item for him to have in his possession. On the other hand, he is currently concentrating his purchasing efforts on his daughter, Wren, who is two years old. This means that his knowledge of toys is currently limited to a fairly restricted age range.
Specifically, for one age range, that would be anything around two years old, as I am aware of what Wren enjoys doing at the moment, Carlo commented. But other than that, I continue to have a hard time. To this day, it is still enjoyable to wander around and take a look at everything. I am brought back to my childhood by it. During my childhood, I spent a significant amount of time in these toy aisles because my mother took an extremely long time to go shopping.
Every once in a while, she would simply send me to the toy department with twenty dollars, and I would sit there all day trying to figure out how to manage my money and figure out what I was doing. In spite of the fact that I was still attempting to learn, I spent the majority of my time trying to convince my mother to spend the additional five dollars on a larger toy, such as a miniature hockey net or a basketball.
Fortunately, Carlo had a list to work off at Target on Wednesday morning as he participated in the annual holiday toy shopping event that the Bruins host. During this event, the Bruins select presents for children who are spending the holidays at local hospitals. During the time that Ray Bourque was captain of the Black and Gold, the event was first held, and it has been going on for more than three decades.
Bruins captain Brad Marchand, who was following a Ninja Turtles theme in an homage to his favorite childhood cartoon, said, “It’s always fun to bring a little bit of joy, a little bit of fun while they’re going through a tough time.” Marchand was referring to the fact that he was following a Ninja Turtles theme. When you are a parent, it is very satisfying to be able to assist other people in putting a smile on their faces. It would be a really difficult experience to witness your children going through something like that, especially during the holiday season.
“Whenever we have the chance to put a smile on their face, if we can make a child forget what they are going through for a moment, it is something that we should do. That is something that is worth doing.” In this way, we are in a position to be able to assist in giving back to the community. This is something that we take pleasure in doing.
At the beginning of the next week, the Boston Bruins will distribute the gifts that they have purchased to children who are being treated at various hospitals throughout the city.
For Jeremy Swayman, this is without a doubt one of the most memorable occasions of the year. Getting up early, doing some wonderful things for the community, and giving back are all things that everyone is doing with a positive attitude. Additionally, the holiday season is right in the heart of the hockey season. It is very important to us to give back to this community because they have been so kind to us. We are contributing in our own insignificant way.
One of my favorite things about it all is when we get to see this full circle and travel to the children’s hospital and deliver it to them firsthand. Seeing the joy on their faces is one of the things that I enjoy the most about it. I am really looking forward to carrying on this tradition for a very long time.
A newcomer named Kevin Shattenkirk expressed his delight at becoming a part of the long-standing ritual.
Having the ability to observe the expression that is presented on their face is the point of this. According to him, you recall how you felt when you were a child and you received presents first thing in the morning on Christmas Day. The fact that we will be able to assist some younger children and, with any luck, provide them with all that they are searching for over the holiday season is something that I find to be pretty amazing.
