Busted: Charlotte police arrest Clemson former CB Bashaud Breeland due to
The records show that the 32-year-old, originally from Allendale, was apprehended by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police over the weekend on nine preliminary charges. Among these charges were three felony drug offenses, along with misdemeanors such as resisting arrest and assaulting a government official.
Breeland’s previous arrest occurred in August 2023 in Charlotte when he was pulled over while driving a Mercedes Benz reported as stolen in Florida. During the traffic stop, police discovered multiple firearms and over five pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.
While the exact circumstances surrounding Breeland’s most recent arrest remain unclear, preliminary charges include possession of marijuana, as well as Schedule I and Schedule V controlled substances, with an alleged intent to manufacture or distribute.
Schedule I substances encompass drugs like heroin, ecstasy, or opiates, while Schedule V substances typically refer to over-the-counter medications.
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft from Clemson University, Breeland played for five different NFL teams throughout his career. Notably, he was part of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning team in 2020. Breeland’s last NFL stint was with the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad in January 2022.
