Regarding the guy himself, Sainz says he doesn’t care about the commotion coming from outside of his circle because he is aware of how highly regarded he is by his peers.
“I don’t feel underappreciated by people who know about this sport,” he remarked. “I think those who know me, have worked with me, or shared a team with me know me.”
“There are also others who might not be as knowledgeable about this sport or have as much insight; if they choose to denigrate me, that is okay with me.
Carlos Sainz, whose Ferrari contract expires at the end of 2024, says he is living in the now and not thinking ahead after winning in Ferrari
“To be honest, I don’t care. But I do care about the people who are familiar with the sport and my teammates; they are the ones who have seen my data, my work ethic, and my speed. I don’t feel that they are undervaluing me.”
Sainz acknowledges that he is still “jobless” for the upcoming season, but he maintains that his reasons are independent of the team principals.
He continued, “I do race for me.” “I race to continuously show myself that I am capable of winning anytime I have a competitive vehicle and whenever there is a chance to win over the weekend. I don’t compete to prove my worth to team leaders or to other individuals.
“I compete to prove to myself that I can finish and be up there if I’m given a vehicle, and that’s the mindset and approach I have and will continue to have for the remainder of the year.”
Regardless of Sainz’s explanation, there’s no denying that the Spaniard is performing at his best during a crucial juncture in his career.
