Following a subpar showing in Sunday’s 4-2 FA Cup quarterfinal triumph against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge, Sterling was jeered by his own supporters as he left the field. After moving from Manchester City for £47.5 million ($60.4 million) in 2022, Sterling hasn’t been able to totally win over supporters with his skills, but he’s motivated to try. The Standard claims that Sterling is ready to turn off offers from Saudi Arabian teams this summer and is still intent on winning big trophies with Chelsea.
Sterling expressed his regret to Chelsea supporters on Sunday for his performance against Leicester, saying, “I apologize for missing the penalty. I promise to return tenfold more powerful to aid in the team’s victory and to never give up on the badge.”
The former Manchester City winger has a 2027 deal with Stamford Bridge. His weekly pay is reportedly over £300,000. Should any offers come in this summer, Chelsea is expected to place a high price tag on the winger, making a transfer challenging.
The 29-year-old’s team will probably meet Pep Guardiola’s team on April 20 after being drawn with his old team, Manchester City, in the FA Cup semifinal. The winger, who hasn’t been called up to the England side yet, will get two weeks off to practice with Mauricio Pochettino’s club.
