The Bengals added a new quarterback to their practice squad.

One day after reducing their initial roster to 53 players on Tuesday, the Cincinnati Bengals have added more than a dozen individuals to their practice squad.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Bengals announced the addition of a new quarterback to the practice squad.

This material was brought over from Twitter. Perhaps their website has more information, or you can get the same content in a different manner.

After playing for the Dallas Cowboys during the preseason, fifth-year player Will Grier of West Virginia University joined the Bengals practice squad on Wednesday.

Grier began two regular-season games for Carolina in 2019 after spending his first two seasons with the Panthers. He completed 28 of 52 passes for 228 yards.

On Wednesday, cornerback Allan George, safety Michael Thomas, and wide receiver Stanley Morgan were among the prominent players that joined the Bengals practice squad.

George, a cornerback, joined Cincinnati as a collegiate free agent and made two tackles in four games during the previous season.

Over the past two years, Thomas has made 24 appearances for the Bengals as a seasoned safety.

The following ten players were also added to the practice squad on Wednesday:

Domenique Davis C., DT DE’s Nate Gilliam Jeff Gunter LB Shaka Heyward TE Hudson Tanner
    Shedrick Jackson, wide receiver
    CB Sidney Jones, Jr.
    Kirkland, G. Jaxson
WR Lassiter II Kwamie Tyler Murray

Right now, the practice squad for the Bengals is two players short of the 16-man roster cap.

At practice on Wednesday, the club also got incredible news: starting quarterback Joe Burrow made his first field appearance since suffering a calf strain on July 27.

For a few weeks, Burrow was sidelined and just attended practices as an observer while recovering from his injuries and working out in the background.

On Wednesday, Burrow made his way back onto the field while wearing full pads and leaving his injured right calf sleeve free. With this development, Burrow may get six sessions before Sunday’s season opener against Cleveland.

Whether Burrow will be ready to play in the Bengals’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 10 is still up in the air.
