Cody Rager is lost by the New Orleans Saints to the Broncos
One more Saints employee left the team to work with Sean Payton in Denver.
Cody Rager, the assistant scouting director for the New Orleans Saints, is set to leave the team to take a job with the Denver Broncos, according to an NFL Insider story on Monday. Schefter claims that the Broncos are nearing completion on a deal to promote Rager to vice president of scouting.
Over the weekend, Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football reported that Rager was being pursued by the Broncos. Naturally, Sean Payton, who played for the Saints from 2006 to 2021, is Denver’s head coach.
Payton acquired a number of former New Orleans assistants for his staff during the previous offseason, when the Saints traded his rights to the Broncos. According to reports, Payton and Broncos General Manager George Paton will collaborate closely with Rager.
Rager has worked as a scout for nine years in New Orleans. He started out for the squad as a scout in the West Coast area. Under Jeff Ireland, the Saints’ deputy general manager and director of college scouting, Rager was elevated to the position of assistant college scouting director in 2021.
