Kane Cornes has suggested Collingwood and Geelong could make a play for Hawthorn young gun Cam Mackenzie amid reports he could be unhappy at the Hawks. Mackenzie was subbed out of Hawthorn’s loss to Fremantle last weekend after gathering just eight possessions.
After a string of stellar performances to start the year, the young gun has struggled to recapture his best form. He had a career-high 30 disposals in Round 3 against GWS, and appeared to have cemented his spot at AFL level when he played the first seven games of the season.
But a broken hand derailed his campaign, and he was sent to the VFL for a three-week stint not long after he returned. Mackenzie has played the last three games at AFL level, but his subbing against the Dockers has sparked speculation about his future.
