Ryan Blaney shared his thoughts on narrowly missing out on the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship to his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano. Despite a strong performance in the season finale at Phoenix Raceway, Blaney ultimately finished second, just behind Logano, who claimed his third Cup Series title.
Reflecting on the race, Blaney acknowledged that he gave it his all but couldn’t quite make the decisive moves to overtake Logano in the closing laps. “I tried really hard, but the restart just didn’t go my way,” Blaney admitted. He described the bittersweet feeling of losing to a close teammate, adding, “If I had to lose to someone, I’m glad it was Joey.”
Blaney’s effort to defend his 2023 championship title was evident throughout the race. He showcased impressive speed and determination, especially as he battled with contenders like William Byron and Tyler Reddick. However, Logano’s mastery of restarts and strategic maneuvers proved to be the difference-maker. Blaney commended Logano for his performance, expressing respect for his teammate’s ability to rise to the occasion under immense pressure.
