New Arival: Dak Prescott, Dallas QB breaks silence on the return and signing of a top player;
Ezekiel Elliott’s return to Cowboys
Dak Prescott is eager to reassimilate Ezekiel Elliott back into the Cowboys organization.
Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott were teammates with the New England Patriots for a year before they returned to the Dallas Cowboys. To be reunited with Elliott in the Dallas backfield, Prescott is ecstatic.
The running back inked a one-year deal worth a maximum of $3 million with the Cowboys. According to Lawrence Dow of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Prescott was eager to reintegrate Elliott into the Cowboys’ offense and culture upon his arrival.
Extremely happy. Prescott spoke highly of Elliott, saying, “Just obviously knowing our history, my experience with him as a brother, but, in this case, as a teammate, understanding what he brings to the team.” “The locker room by itself, the culture he establishes—a man who conducts himself honorably from the locker room to the field.”
Elliott played in 103 games with the Cowboys during the first seven years of his career. He scored 68 touchdowns on 8,262 yards of running. During his tenure in Dallas, Elliott won Rookie of the Year, was an All-Pro, and was selected to the Pro Bowl three times.
Prescott and Elliott were welcomed to the NFL together when they joined the Cowboys in 2016. Up until Elliott’s departure in 2022, Dallas has four postseason appearances. Now that they are back together, the quarterback and rushing back will try to make their most extensive postseason run to date.

The rise of Tony Pollard made the Cowboys prepared to let go of Elliott. In 2023, they gave him the running back room keys. With six touchdowns, he rushed for 1,005 yards. It was seen as Pollard’s down year because he did not have any touchdown receptions (he had three the year before).
Dallas’s willingness to let him walk in free agency was sufficient. Pollard signed a $24 million, three-year contract with the Tennessee Titans as a result.
Elliott has a considerably simpler route to representation now that Pollard is out of town. People like Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, and Royce Freeman stand in his path.
With 89 rushing attempts, Dowdle saw the most time in his career in 2023. That resulted in 361 yards and two scores for him. In 2023, Vaughn gained 40 scoreless yards on 23 carries as a rookie. After rushing for 319 yards and two touchdowns with the Los Angeles Rams in 2023, Freeman signed a contract with Dallas this offseason.
By training camp, the Cowboys’ running back room will have a lot of unanswered questions. However, the fact that Elliott returned to the team after a year away indicates that Dallas at least anticipates having him in the lineup. While playing for the Patriots, he gained 642 yards and three scores via running.
Dak Prescott is thrilled to have Ezekiel Elliott back in the group, referring to him as a brother. Elliott may soon be ready to play a significant role in the Cowboys’ running back room, so their friendship may need to grow again soon.
