Derek Carr gives his motivation for wanting to join Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and leave the New Orleans Saints.
Throughout his career, quarterback Derek Carr of the New Orleans Saints has generated controversy, but teammate Juwan Johnson is standing up for him.
Derek Carr, the Raiders’ quarterback, was a contentious player during his tenure. In 2023, Carr moved to the New Orleans Saints from Vegas, but he brought his divisive image with him.Carr, who started all 17 games for the Saints, completed 68.4% of his throws for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions as he guided New Orleans to a 9-8 record.
It was a lackluster season for the Saints, even though they were one game away from reaching the postseason. The question of whether Derek Carr even merits a second season with New Orleans was raised by several fans and commentators as a result. Even though Carr’s comeback seems certain, teammate Juwan Johnson recently gave an explanation of why it’s the proper choice.
Speaking from the radio row of the Super Bowl, Johnson told FanSided’s Stacking the Box podcast that Carr is an excellent leader and that he doesn’t receive enough credit for his on-field accomplishments.
Juwan Johnson is in support of Derek Carr.
This kind of support from the locker room is crucial, especially with Carr expected to return for the Saints in his second season. It’s reasonable to argue that New Orleans had a dysfunctional club in 2023, which explains why many don’t think highly of the team in the near future. Even with all of the turmoil from the previous season, the Saints were only a few plays away from making the playoffs, so it is evident that they have some quality in their squad.
The Saints have a chance to win more games, and Carr might alter his story, especially with a new offensive coaching staff, Derek Carr in his second season, and all of the new pieces that New Orleans will add in the summer.
